Welcome letter
A welcome letter should make your guest feel welcomed, you can include a small blurb about yourself and welcome the guest into the space. Give them a brief history about the space they are going to be staying in.
About the manager/owner
This section should include information about you, the host, so the guest feels like they have a connection with you. Share something you enjoy doing, places you have traveled to, and where you currently live.
Address & directions
The welcome book should include the address on the front incase of an emergency the guest can read it quickly and find it easily. Including directions on how to get to the house can be useful if you upload your welcome book online and the guest takes the time to read it ahead of time.
Wi-Fi code
The Wi-Fi code is necessary. Including it on the front of your welcome book will help your guest not need to contact you asking for it.
Check-in/check-out
Provide a clear list of the check-in and check-out instructions so your guest knows what they need to do before they arrive and before they leave.
Parking instructions
If your accommodation provides parking on site, list out where they should park and how many of these parking spots there are.
House rules
All house rules should be listed in your welcome book. Some good rules to include are, no parties, no smoking, and what quite times are.
How to use appliances
Including how to use appliances that may be new to guests can help them feel at home. Some appliances that might be tricky include, a T.V., Instant pot, or a fancy water dispenser on the fridge.
House quirks
All homes have some quirks to them. Letting your guests know that it’s normal when the doors make noise or that they need to hold the toilet handle down to flush will help them feel at home.
Other miscellaneous information
If there’s anything else you need to let your guest know, make a section for it so they have all the information they need.
Emergency information
Incase of an emergency having information about the address and point of contact will assist your guest in providing authorities or emergency services with the information they need.
Contact information
As the host, your contact information is necessary to include so they are able to contact you about problems that may come up.
Transportation
It can be helpful for your guests to know information about busses, taxi, trains, or other methods of transportation in your area.
Attractions
If your area has any well known attractions or little known attractions, include them in your book. Give them special information about things or places only locals go to.
Everyday activities
Some guests really like to live in the area. Providing them with information about places that people go every day such as a pool, library, bowling, hair, or nails can help them to get a local experience.
Playgrounds
If your space is kid friendly it’s a good idea to provide your guests with the address and name of the closest playgrounds in the area.
Restaurants
Providing your guests with information about your favorite local restaurants will help them to have a great experience. Directing them to great food will help you get that 5 star rating that you desire.
Shopping
Another helpful thing to include is some shopping locations such as malls, groceries, and the closest gas station.
