Easy DIY Taco Seasoning So You Never Have To Buy The Packets Again

Making your own taco seasoning is quick, affordable, and surprisingly easy. With a handful of pantry spices, you can skip the expensive store-bought packets and mix up a flavorful blend whenever you need it. I’m actually shocked that I didn’t have this posted sooner since it’s something I use so frequently.

Ingredients

Chili Powder
The backbone of taco seasoning. It adds warmth, color, and that classic taco flavor.

Cumin
Brings earthy depth and a slightly smoky note that makes the seasoning taste bold and savory.

Paprika
Adds mild sweetness and rich color without extra heat.

Garlic Powder
Provides savory flavor and balances the spices.

Onion Powder
Adds subtle sweetness and rounds out the seasoning blend.

Oregano
Brings a light herbal note that ties all the flavors together.

Salt
Enhances each spice and helps the seasoning taste well-balanced.

Black Pepper
Adds gentle heat and a little bite.

Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
For extra heat—easy to adjust or leave out for a milder blend.

Instructions

Mix all ingredients together

  • 2 tbsp Cumin
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Paprika
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder

  • 1 tsp Crushed red pepper flakes optional
