The Best Gooey Homemade Rice Krispie Treats

Rice Krispie treats are one of the easiest no bake dessert you can make. They can be whipped up in 10 minutes with only 4 ingredients. There are lots of recipes out there, but this one ensures you have a nice gooey treat every time.

Ingredients

Butter
Adds richness and helps melt the marshmallows smoothly. It also keeps the mixture from sticking and gives the treats a soft texture.

Vanilla
Enhances the overall sweetness and adds a subtle depth of flavor.

Marshmallows
The key ingredient that binds everything together. Using the higher amount creates softer, extra-gooey treats.

Rice Krispies (or other cereal)
Provide the crisp texture and structure. You can swap in similar puffed or crispy cereals to change the flavor or add variety.

Instructions

Prepare a 9×13 pan with parchment paper 

Melt butter and marshmallows in a pan over medium heat

Stir until well combined 

In a separate bowl measure out cereal

Pour the marshmallow mixture over the cereal and stir until combined 

Pour the Rice Krispies into the prepared pan 

Do not press!

Gently spread the rice krispy mixture to the corners 

Cover and allow it to set or add toppings immediately

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies or other cereal
