Easy Low Carb And Keto Asian Lettuce Wraps

Asian lettuce wraps are a simple and delicious meal. The meat can be cooked and frozen for a later meal.   This meal is a great low carb or keto meal to enjoy without missing out on any flavor.

Ingredients

Ground meat– turkey, beef, chicken can all be used for the ground meat, each will give you a slightly different flavor but all will work great

Bell pepper– which ever color is your favorite can be used it needs to be diced

Carrots– carrots make this meal stretch to be more affordable, you can use any color or size, they need to be grated

Soy sauce– what Asian dish is complete without soy sauce?

Garlic cloves– garlic is the best for adding flavor, I like to get mine pre-minced in a huge jar

Ketchup– for some sweetener and flavor

Honey– this is just for sweetener, but you can use another sweetener such as maple syrup or brown sugar

Ginger– ginger adds an extra flavor that makes it more complex, but it is optional

Lettuce– use a large leaf of lettuce to hold your meat mixture and enjoy

Instant pot– if you want an instant pot, this is the one I have.  It does everything I want it to

Slow cooker– if you want a slow cooker, crock pots are the top brand, but you can also use an instant pot on the slow cooker setting

Pan– I love using this pan for many dishes, it’s huge and deep enough to keep things in

Grater– I have this mandolin and grater set that I love, it’s easier to clean than a box grater

Directions For Slow cooker

Dump all ingredients in a slow cooker 

Cook for 2-4 hours on high

Serve on a leaf of lettuce like a taco

Directions For Instant Pot

Dump all ingredients into an instant pot

Set to 6 minutes

Serve on a leaf of lettuce like a taco

Directions For Stove Top

Sauté garlic and ginger in a pan until fragrant

Add honey, ketchup, soy sauce, pepper, carrots, and meat

Cook until meat is fully cooked about 7-10 minutes

Serve on a leaf of lettuce like a taco

Tips

  • Try adding cabbage instead of carrots
  • Make it stretch more by adding rice
  • Try making this recipe vegan by replacing the meat with tofu and using a sweetener that is not honey
  • vegetarian by replacing the meat with tofu
  • Make it spicy by adding diced jalapeno to taste
  • Make this gluten free by using gluten free soy sauce or tamari

Whole30 Option

Replace soy sauce with coconut aminos

Use primal kitchen ketchup

Omit honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp honey or sweetener
  • 1 tsp ginger optional
