Travel with kids can be stressful, there’s really no way around it. Kids like routine and unless you have your own private jet, travel really forces you to change your routine. So why should you put yourself through the stressful travel process? Here’s why I think travel with kids is worth it.

Bonding
Travel bonds families together. As you struggle through flying to your destination and as you enjoy new experiences together you will bond with your kids. Additionally, your kids will bond with one another. Our kids grow closer with their shared experiences. They have a vivid memory to discuss together for years to come.
Memories
Your kids will remember going on a trip. My almost 3 and 4 year old at the time of travel still talk about the great trip we had to Mexico, they vividly remember the water parks. The memories aren’t only for your kids, they’re also for you, I fondly remember my kids making up a game at our Airbnb using whatever they could get their hands on.
Learning
Travel teaches you and your kids many things. Cultures, history, socialization, patience, and geography can all be learned through travel and more. In Japan, my kids enjoyed the traditional cuisine of Japan including ramen, sushi, and tonkatsu. They also had to practice patience as we waited for trains or in lines. We still regularly talk about where Japan is in the world compared to other places we have visited or are going to visit.
Experiences
Giving your kids experiences is better than giving them gifts. They will remember an experience more than they will remember a toy. They also will become more adaptable adults because of their experiences with travel. My older kids have been exposed to new cultures that they will remember and be able to compare with other experiences.
If you’re on the fence about taking your kids on a trip, do it. It is worth the stress, it will give you memories to last a lifetime.
